World Cup 2026 Round of 32 guide: match dates (June 28 - July 3), which teams qualify, and how the knockout bracket works.
The 2026 World Cup knockout stage begins with a brand-new round, the Round of 32, held for the first time in tournament history due to the expansion to 48 teams. Here are the Round of 32 dates, how teams qualify, and Egypt's potential opponent and route to the final.
32 teams advance: the top two from each of the 12 groups (24 teams), plus the eight best third-placed teams. The line-up is complete once the group stage finishes on June 26-27.
The Round of 32 is played from June 28 to July 3, 2026. It opens with a single match on June 28, South Africa vs Canada at the Los Angeles stadium, then continues with three matches per day. For all kickoff times in Cairo time and the updated order, follow the live schedule.
Four group winners face group runners-up, eight group winners face qualifying third-placed teams, and the remaining runners-up face other runners-up. Knockout matches are played to a finish: if level after 90 minutes, 30 minutes of extra time is played, then a penalty shootout if still level.
If Egypt, led by Mohamed Salah, qualify from Group G, they'll play their first knockout match in the Round of 32. Egypt's opponent depends on their final group position and the other groups' standings. Follow Egypt's matches and the group standing to see the opponent once confirmed.
All knockout matches air exclusively on beIN Sports MAX and TOD. To bet, play on Arba777 with EGP support.
